I was sitting on the floor, legs crossed and tears running down my face. I cried as I begged God for an answer.
I had been praying and praying and praying over a situation, and seemingly had no answer. This decision would impact my life, and greatly impact my future, and I needed an answer yesterday. But I wasn’t getting anything new.
You see, I thought that I had maybe gotten a green light from God, but I just wanted to make sure. I didn’t want to make a mistake or go in the wrong direction or do the wrong thing or take myself out of His will.
So there I was again. Crying. Begging. Agonizing.
And in the midst of this situation, these words were deposited into my soul:
I am your God, and that is enough.
And I stilled.
The tears stopped flowing, and my words dried up. What did that mean?
I thought about that for a minute — a long minute — and simply meditated on this. And it hit me.
He is my God. Emphasis on the personal aspect.
Who is God?
God is Healer, Deliverer, Provider, Sustainer, Creator, Protector, and Father. Our God is a god of miracles, signs, and wonders.
He is a god who created us in His image to be His companions. He is a god who sent His son down to Earth to die for our sins, even though humanity had continuously messed up (and messed up big). He is a god who lived among men, healed the sick, ate with sinners, loved all, forgave all, taught all, and died for all.
He is a god that is always with us, and never leaves us nor forsakes us. He is a god that guides, directs, and lovingly corrects. He is our Father and the lover of our souls.
He is a personal and a powerful God. And He is enough.
Whatever situation you’ve found yourself in; whatever emotional turmoil you’re going through; remember this: your God is enough.
We can trust Him. Not just because He’s a god, but because He’s our God. It’s in His very nature to care for us and love us. It’s just who He is.
So even when we don’t have the answer or the solution, we can trust in Him. Lean not on your own understanding, but submit unto Him and trust in Him because He is your God and that is enough.
We don’t really need any other answer. All we need to know is that God loves us, is for us, and will work on our behalf.
Who God is, is simply enough. And He’s your God.
Hold onto that and don’t ever forget that.
